2,380 Books Donated to Local Simi Valley Students Through the Emerging Leaders of Simi Valley Book Drive for Kids!
The Emerging Leaders of Simi Valley wrapped up their Book Drive for Kids benefitting local students on May 23, 2021! The book drive received a total of 2,380 new and gently used books which were donated to elementary school students to keep as they started their summer break!
Book donations were made at a drive-thru collection event on May 18th, and at drop off spots at a number of local businesses in Simi Valley from April 23 – May 23. The Emerging Leaders would like to thank the following businesses for their support: Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce, Grocery Outlet of Simi Valley, Lucky Dog Café, Old Susana Café, CKO Kickboxing, Junkyard Café, and the Rancho Santa Susana Community Center.
The books were donated to Park View Center School, Knolls Elementary, and the Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark & Simi Valley and students were given the opportunity to select a couple of books of their choice before the end of the school year.
“We are so thankful to our community for their overwhelming support and donations toward our book drive,” said Josh Gray, Service Coordinator for the Emerging Leaders. “We know how much the students will appreciate these new books they have to read over the summer.”
The Emerging Leaders of Simi Valley provides young professionals aged 21 – 40 with access to networking events, education workshops and interaction with area business leaders. The Emerging Leaders participate in regular service projects to promote and support the Simi Valley community. This event was hosted in partnership with County Supervisor Bob Huber’s office.
