​Rules & Regulations

Eligibility:
Fruit Pies, Breads: Open to Ventura County residents 18 and over only.
Jams, Pickles: Open to anyone 18 and over.
Must show government issued license to check in (Driver’s License or Passport)
 
Categories & Judging Schedule:
Fruit Pies, Breads: Saturday, March 23 at 12:00 PM at the Town Square Tent
Jams, Pickles: Sunday, March 24 at 12:00 PM at the Town Square Tent
 
Submission Timeframe:
Entries must be dropped off between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM on the day of the respective competitions. Late submissions will be not be accepted.  Drop off location is in the parking lot of the Simi Valley Metro link Station,
5050 E Los Angeles Ave. Simi Valley, CA. 93063

Recipe Requirements:
Each entry must include a typed recipe on 8.5" x 11" white copy paper with all ingredients listed, highlighting potential allergens. (Ex. milk, eggs, nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, etc.)
To maintain impartial judging, do not include the contestant's name on the recipe. Each entry will be assigned a number at check in. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in disqualification.

Submission Specifications:
  • Pies must be whole and unsliced, and not requiring refrigeration- NO CREAM, MERINGUE, OR CUSTARD PIES or CHEESECAKES
  • Bread must be unsliced and submitted as a full loaf.
  • Pickles and Jams must be presented in full sealed jars.
  • All submissions should be delivered in disposable pie tins, loaf pans and glass jars.  They will not be returned.
 
Judging Criteria:
Entries will be judged based on their ​Flavor, and Visual Appeal. The judges' verdicts will be conclusive and final.

Awards:
The top three winners in each category will be recognized and awarded prizes.

Entry Limit:
One entry per participant, per category.

Health and Safety:
Adherence to food safety and hygiene practices is mandatory.
Consent for Use: Participants agree to allow use of their recipes in future publications or promotions by the organizers, with proper credit.

The Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce and Modern Prairie are not liable for any harm, loss, or injury from contest participation.
